What is Fascia?

Fascia is a three-dimensional web-like structure. It connects to the skin and is continuous from head to toe. It surrounds and connects every part of the body, including covering individual muscle fibers, muscle bundles, bones, and organs, and it is also present in the brain (with a sponge-like formation). The nerves, blood, and lymph vessels also run through the healthy fascia.  But they are restricted when Fascia is restricted.  Please click on the video link below to see that illustrated.  Fascia continues down to the cellular level and inside the cell itself.  If there is any issue in the body, it is in this tissue as well.

Fascia connects every cell to all other cells throughout the body.  Inflammation, chronic habitual poor posture, faulty movement, overuse or inactivity, accidents, falls, surgery, stress, dehydration, and birth traumas, can cause fascial adhesions.  A fascial lesion in one part of the body may lead to pain or dysfunction in a completely different area since this web is interconnected throughout the body.  MFR treatment releases the restrictions in the fascia and relieves many chronic pain symptoms.

More Facts about Fascia...

  • Myofascial Release Treats difficult conditions.  Please see the list of conditions treated.

  • Fascial lesions can create up to 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch and cause debilitating pain and cause postural imbalances and decreased function.

  • Myofascial Release treatment improves the function of the entire body.  MFR increases range of motion, decreases pain, and improves function, and strength.

  • Fascia influences the quality of our movement much more than our muscles alone.

  • Fascia plays a large role in how our cells communicate.

  • Fascia has unique properties that require a specialized approach to training, recovery, and therapy.

  • Maintaining Myofascial health is essential in order for a body to be mobile and resilient.

Testimonials

"I am grateful to have found MFR Physical Therapy in Bullhead City. I
have lived in several states from Boston to Las Vegas over a 30 year
period and had traditional Physical Therapy in all of those states (5). I
believed all Physical Therapy was the same, but Marlaina at MFR
Physical Therapy proves they are not all the same.
Marlaina, at MFR Physical Therapy, worked on my injuries with a
traditional Physical Therapy approach and also introduced me to
Myofascial Release (MFR). Until MFR I did not have complete pain
relief and functional mobility. She helped me more with a medial
meniscus tear than other PT's and the orthopedic doctor, and relief from
decades of neck and lower back pain.
All those years I've suffered with pain and reduced movement, with little
relief from the various PT's I worked with. I did not get the optimum
results I have achieved until going to MFR Physical Therapy. I wish
people with pain will become aware of MFR for pain relief, and healing."

TARA W.

"Wow! Marlaina is a very specialized Physical Therapist who does
myofascial release, which is hard to find. The equipment she uses is
also unique. The Zaaz body vibration machines give me a good work
out, helps with pain relief, and leaves me energized. The amethyst and
tourmaline crystal bed really relaxes me with the deep far infrared heat.
The office is layed out nicely, I like going there. Marlaina has been in
natural wholistic medicine most of her adult life and has supplements
and food suggestions based on my needs and concerns. I am so glad
that I met her. I have severe osteoarthritis and she has made my life
better."

KATHY B.

"Marlaina Vance, PT is a highly competent
professional in her field. I have known Marlaina for approximaltely 4
years. She has done hands on therapeutic work with me as a TRAGER
Practitioner and worked with me as a personal trainer utilizing Pilates,

Yoga, Stability Ball, Walking and weight training. Her instruction is
educational and safe as well as challenging.
My experience with Marlaina is that she is versatile in her abilities,
always knowledgeable (and if she does not know she will find out),
concerned and caring with her clients, consistent and reliable with her
approach and results. She is very talented, inspiring, and creative."

JAN E.

"Marlaina Vance is an excellent therapist and exhibits a high degree of
professional ability and character."
