How Can We Help?

Who Should Receive Myofascial Release (MFR) Therapy?

Athletes, retirees, office workers, chronic pain sufferers, (including neuropathies), anyone that goes

through daily life, and those experiencing discomforts, tightness, and pressure, as well as pre and post-operative patients. Anyone who wants to feel better overall or with specific areas of pain or discomfort

will benefit.

Do I need a Prescription?

In the state of Arizona, a prescription is not necessary to be treated by a Physical Therapist, so we do not require one.  However, if you are billing your insurance company you may need one.

How Should I be Dressed?

Myofascial Release is done directly on the skin, so you should bring appropriate clothing so that hands-on contact with the skin is available.  Some people wear shorts and a tank top, a bathing suit, or just underwear.

What should I expect?

At the initial evaluation, the therapist will look for areas of fascial restriction in the body.  Standard measurements, special tests, comprehensive movement, and postural evaluation will also be accessed.

The initial treatment will address your particular area of concern.  In subsequent sessions, the therapist may address other areas that may seem unrelated but have been observed to be part of the original concern.

Treatment sessions are often very relaxing.  There may be a conversation with the therapist and at the same time, the therapist will encourage you to be aware of sensations you may be feeling in your body.  Feedback to the therapist about where and what you are feeling helps the therapist to be more effective.

How do you typically feel after a session?

Following your session, you typically feel very relaxed.  After this experience, many people feel increased energy, lightness or openness, heightened awareness, and greater ability to do their daily activities.

However since toxins are released from the soft tissues during the session, you must drink plenty of water for one to two days afterward.

How long is each session?

The MFR sessions can be either 60 or 90-minute sessions.  Because MFR is a gentle approach multiple sessions can be scheduled in one day to accelerate healing.
